BOSTON NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Your little one is finally here and you want to soak in every single moment. Your heart feels like it grew three sizes, there’s a joyful exhaustion you’ve never experienced before, and you can’t quite believe that fingernails could ever be that tiny. This precious time is fleeting and you don’t want to forget a single detail.

I currently offer in-home newborn photography sessions that are baby-led, documenting some of your first moments home together as a family. Maternity sessions take place in-home or on location at a pre-determined outdoor setting, weather/season permitting.

Boston Newborn Photography

In-home newborn photography sessions typically average about 2 hours, allowing for feedings, changes and any other quiet moments. We let baby lead the session and create a relaxed environment for the whole family.

Your session includes immediate family members. You’ll receive all hi-resolution digital files in a private online gallery (minimum of 60) with a beautiful, custom slideshow for immediate download. You will also receive a $100 print credit to use towards any prints, albums, or other products.

Boston Maternity Photography

Maternity photography sessions are filled with love, joy and excitement as you prepare for your little one’s arrival. These sweet sessions include the expecting mother, significant other and immediate family.

Maternity sessions last up to an hour and include all hi-resolution digital files in a private online gallery (minimum of 40) with a beautiful, custom slideshow for immediate download. You will also receive a $100 print credit to use towards any prints, albums, or other products.

Additional family and pets can also be included in sessions. If including pets, I highly recommend having someone come along to support your furry family members after we capture a few shots with them.

Kristin’s Process

After 15 years of photographing newborns, I have found it best to start off with a short call to find out a little more about your family and what your vision is for your newborn session. We’ll go over all the details, and I can answer any questions you may have. I am really passionate about connection, and have found it so beneficial for you as a potential new family of mine to get to know the photographer you are inviting to come document this incredibly important time in your life.

Since most times you won’t know exactly when baby will be arriving, we will schedule your session for around your expected due date, then contact me as soon as you know baby will be arriving so we can solidify the final date for your session (typically within 2 weeks after birth).

You’ll receive my newborn session guide with helpful tips on what to wear and how to prepare for your newborn photography session.

Maternity photography sessions are best between 30-36 weeks.

I always recommend booking sooner than later to ensure availability, especially around certain times of year.

Adoptive Families: Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time to book a session (well, maybe not at midnight). I will do everything possible to accommodate getting you on my schedule quickly.

FAQs

  • I currently do not have a private studio and photograph on location in-home or at an outside setting. However, I do have studio backdrops and lighting that can be taken on location in certain settings and on a limited basis. Please inquire. I can usually accommodate clients in their home to get a “studio” look or feel if desired.

  • Great question! I have portable off-camera lighting that comes with me to each of my home sessions, ensuring we have great light. Although, I can typically find a great spot using window light as well. We always discuss this on your planning call.

  • The short answer is keep it simple. A neutral onesie goes a long way. Many times baby ends up in a diaper (maybe even nothing pending on parent preference - then we kick the heat up so baby is comfortable) or in a swaddle. If you have any particular outifts or items that are really meaningful, have those ready to go. My biggest note would be to have outfits be as snug as possible, otherwise baby gets swallowed up and lost in all the material. We discuss this in more detail during planning.

  • Light neutral colors (gray, cream, white, etc.) look great for newborn sessions. I recommend solids over patterns as this keeps the focus on the baby. Softer fabrics and shirts without buttons/collars create a cozier look. Mommas, most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable in, and be kind to yourself and your body post-partum.

  • Absolutely! In-home newborn sessions are all about celebrating the expansion of your beautiful family. I typically try to get images with siblings done first while they are fresh and excited about the session and a new visitor in their home, then focus on parents and baby. If siblings are up for it, we’ll bring them back in for a second round once we’ve captured baby’s images.

  • I typically photograph newborns within the first two weeks of birth, however, I know this isn’t always possible. Most importantly, go with what feels most comfortable for your family.

  • Take a deep breath and remove this concern from your thought. :-) Most babies do get a little fussy during a session, which is why I leave ample time for breaks for feeding and cuddling. I’m also extremely patient so please don’t stress if your baby needs extra cuddle time!I recommend feeding baby about 10-15 minutes before I arrive so they have a nice full belly. The more relaxed environment you can create, the more calm they will be. They have spidey senses about these things. :-) I have also sometimes seen a baby not want to sleep because their is a new person in the home. It’s totally okay! They can be awake or asleep. I will capture them as they are in that moment. Most importantly is documenting you all together in your element.

  • I do not work directly with a hair and makeup artist, however I can provide you a list of recommendations upon request. Please be sure to allow extra time in the case your appointment runs longer than expected.

  • Please contact me immediately. Your session fee (non-refundable deposit) may be transferred to another date within 2 months of the original date per your contract.

  • I typically have about a 2 week turnaround for digital images, although times may vary during busier seasons.
